- Find the Screen record tile. Swipe down twice for full quick settings and look for Screen Record. Not there? Tap the pencil edit icon and drag the tile up from the available list into your grid, it never leaves again.
- Choose your audio before hitting start. The dialog asks: record microphone, device audio, or both. Tutorials for grandma want mic on; capturing a clip wants device audio; both together is the classic combo.
- Decide about touch indicators. The toggle 'Show touches on screen' draws dots wherever you tap: perfect for how-to videos, distracting for cinematic clips. Choose by purpose.
The thorough version
- Record, and use the floating controls. A small countdown runs, then everything on screen records with a discreet red indicator up top. Swipe down and tap the recorder to stop, or use its pause button mid take for bathroom breaks.
- Find and trim the video. Recordings land in the Movies or Screen recordings folder, visible in Google Photos (Library, Movies). Trim the clumsy start and finish right in Photos: Edit, drag the ends, save a copy.
- Samsung and other skins: same spirit, extra polish. Samsung's recorder lives in the quick panel too, with resolution controls and even selfie camera overlay in its settings. Search Settings for 'screen recorder' and your brand shows its options.
Common mistakes, and how to dodge them
- DRM protected apps (Netflix and friends) deliberately record black screens: that's copyright protection working as designed, not a fault.
- Recording calls crosses legal lines in many places without all-party consent: know your local law before taping conversations.

- Put the phone in Do Not Disturb first: notification banners landing mid-recording ruin both footage and privacy in one shot.
- Rotate before recording: orientation flips mid take confuse viewers and crop weirdly in editors.
- Long recordings get huge: plan the script, record in chapters, share the digestible parts.
